"Yoga to Calm Stress & Anxiety" is a four-week series created to down-regulate the nervous system and shift us away from being stuck in our stress response and into our relaxation response. No matter the causes of our stress and anxiety, it all manifests itself in similar ways, causing us overwhelm, fear, discomfort, and a disruption to our well-deserved well being and harmony. Allow yourself one hour each week to be enveloped and nurtured in the surroundings of a calm, peaceful, and joyous space. You truly deserve it.
This specialty series was created by Gianna, which she has had the pleasure to teach on an on-going and regular basis, over the course of the past year.
Students will practice pranayama (breath), Gentle and Restorative Yoga asana (pose), mindfulness, and guided meditation techniques, all of which are specific to stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system, (rest and digest), moving us away from the all-too-familiar fight, flight, or freeze response of the sympathetic nervous system, which is oftentimes in overdrive. This class is lovingly designed to be incorporated into and practiced as you go about your day-to-day lives off of your Yoga mats.
