Gianna is a Yoga Alliance Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher and a Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider (YACEP). She has additional certifications as a WAE L1 Teacher and in Restorative Yoga. She brings the knowledge and grace of a personal and family history of ballet to her work as a Yoga Practitioner, with a sensitive and compassionate approach to her teaching, supported by a strong background in Therapeutic Yoga and Trauma-Informed Yoga.
Through her own practice over the course of many years, she has experienced first-hand the benefits of Yoga in helping her to overcome back pain and injury, as well as bringing a greater sense of purpose, peace, and well-being to her life.
Yoga with a Therapeutic Approach
Gianna's work as a Yoga Practitioner is rooted in Therapeutic Yoga, "the process of empowering individuals to progress toward improved health and well-being through the application of the teachings and practices of Yoga," as defined by the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT).
Namasté Yoga Studio was established in 2013, in the Spokane Valley, by Gianna and her husband, Keith. Originally a professional home Yoga studio, we have opened a second Yoga studio in a professional center, located at 620 N. Argonne Road, Suite 1, also in the Spokane Valley. Our home Yoga studio is still open, and we will continue to hold Specialty Classes, in this welcoming, calming space.
Our Studio’s format may be a bit different than that of the traditional Yoga studio. All of our weekly scheduled group classes are offered in eight-week series for which students enroll, and while we do not offer a drop-in class option, if there is interest in joining us for the balance of an eight-week session that is currently in progress and an opening is available, we kindly welcome you to join, and your tuition will be prorated. Throughout our eight-week sessions, we also offer Specialty Classes, as well.
Our Studio is small, as are class sizes, both of which are intentional, allowing us to offer a space that is conducive to individualized attention, as well as to be supportive to those who come to us who are suffering from anxiety, emotional trauma, or physical injury. The Studio and its surroundings are calming, not overwhelming, nor overstimulating, offers soft lighting, and creates a safe container, for all of our students and clients to embrace.
Classes at Namasté Yoga Studio are taught by Gianna, who specializes in Gentle and Restorative Yoga, and Yoga for Back Care. Her primary practice specialty, however, places an emphasis on Trauma-Informed Yoga (Yoga for mental health care, well-being, and mindfulness) and offers classes focusing on the same through Yoga Calm for Children, Trauma-Informed Therapeutic Yoga, and Yoga for Anxiety. She is currently completing the balance of her Yoga Calm training, which she began during the Winter, 2018, the Practicum for which she completed (and passed) in September, 2019. This training has occupied much of her time, during the past year, and she will soon receive her certification, as a Yoga Calm Certified Instructor. In conjunction with the aforementioned training, course work, and Practicum, Gianna has also received her certification as a WAE L1 Teacher, and has devoted her time as well, in taking extensive additional trainings in Trauma-Informed Therapeutic Yoga and Restorative Yoga.
